| Adopt-a-Village: Through the Adopt-a-Village program, North American Moravian Churches help provide for the basic needs of children in the Sikonge region of Tanzania, Africa, who have lost one or both parents to the Aids Epidemic. Under the leadership of our Christian Education Committee, College Hill members can give their loved ones a unique Christmas gift this season-assistance for one child for one year in their honor. Such assistance is offered at $30, and donors are provided with cards that can be used to announce these gifts. Proceeds providie support for the children in one of College Hill's two adopted villages.
Angel Food Ministry: Through the Angel Food Ministry, College Hill joins a network of churches in providing affordable, balanced meals to individuals and families in our community. One $30 Angel Food Signature Box provides enough food to feed a family of four for one week, and low-cost prepared Senior/Convenience meals, Allergen Free meals, and meats, fruits and vegetables are also available. Anyone can purchase food through Angel Food "If you eat, you qualify". Bethlehem Moravian Mission Community: Scheduled to launch in Fall 2010, the Bethlehem Moravian Mission Community will serve as an intentional missional community of four young adults who will spend a year focused on Spiritual Formation and Missional service to our community. College Hill will serve as one of several partners in the BMMC, seeking to encourage, support, and perhaps serve alongside members of the BMMC as they seek to be living witnesses to Christ's love in our community.
Daily Bread Fund: The Daily Bread fund provides grocery gift cards, help with utilities, and other modest short-term financial assistance to local individuals and families who approach the church for assistance.
Easter Eggstravaganza: Each year College Hill offers our annual Easter Eggstravaganza. Focused especially to serve children and families in the community, the Eggstravaganza provides a fun family outing including treats, crafts, special guests, and a massive egg hunt, while also sharing the story of Christ's resurrection that first Easter Sunday long ago.
Emergency Shelter System: Working in partnership with other Bethlehem Churches making up the Emergency Shelter System, each Saturday Evening from January-March 2010, College Hill will offer our Fellowship Hall as a warm and safe place to sleep for homeless women and children in our community. Volunteers will be needed to provide dinner and breakfast, overnight supervision, donation of materials, and other practical types of assistance.
Habitat For Humanity: Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian housing organization building simple, decent, affordable housing in partnership with people in need. Under the sponsorship of the Bethlehem Area Moravian's, and in partnership with other Bethlehem Moravian Churches, College Hill members are helping to build a Habitat Home on Bethlehem's Southside that will provide a home and lasting benefit for a local family in need.
Kings Table Ministry: The King's Table Ministry hosted by the Salvation Army provides a warm Sunday lunch to the hungry in our community. Starting on Sunday, December 13, College Hill will join a rotation of other local congregations who provide volunteers to regularly cook, serve, and clean-up this Sunday lunch.
Northeast Moravian Disaster Response: Forming first as an offshoot of Board of World Mission Moravian Disaster Response, and more recently under the umbrella of the Moravian Church Eastern District, Northeast Moravian Disaster Response has brought together Moravian Christians from the Lehigh Valley and beyond in life-changing mission trips performing construction and repair in the Gulf Coast and Flood-stricken regions of the Midwest, as well as for more local service endeavors at Camp Hope and local neighborhoods.
Shopping Cart Ministry: Each week, worshipers at College Hill have an opportunity to donate non-perishable items and toiletries by placing them in the shopping cart in Fellowship Hall. These items are then given to those in need in our community through outlets such as the New Bethany Ministries food pantry.
Sister Church in Khalatse: Samson Thingpa, former student pastor at College Hill, ministers to a small Moravian Church and school in the disputed area of Kashmir in the border between India and Pakistan. It is a lonely place, mostly Buddhist, where it is very difficult for Christianity to be accepted. Members of College Hill offer encouragement and prayer to Brother Sampson, and have offered financial help toward several facilities projects, including the construction of a school that brings parents to Christ through their children attending the school.
